When in Tenerife you must make time to visit the Black Pyramids. These step pyramids are historically significant and have only begun to be understood. At first it was believed they were not actually pyramids but piles of rock left by local farmers. However, archeological investigations have found that this is probably a burial site for the early inhabitants of the island and that both pyramids are aligned with the summer and winter solstice. There are many exhibits and other areas of interest in the Black Pyramid Park.
